Spain’s Euro 2024 campaign was seen as an overachievement by many, but those of us who take a keen interest in Spanish football know of the quality of Luis de la Fuente’s side.
Carlo Ancelotti knows this too, which is why reports are now indicating that he is set to make a move for one of the standout performers from the campaign which saw Spain win yet another piece of international silverware.
As per Diario SPORT, the man in question is PSG’s Fabián Ruiz, whose stellar performances in Germany during the summer perhaps went under the radar thanks to Rodri’s masterclass.
Ruiz’s contributions can’t be ignored, however, as his two goals and two assists at the tournament were vital to Spain’s success.
The midfielder could be a great option to fill the gap in the Real Madrid squad left by the departure of Toni Kroos, who left the club at the end of last season.
Curiously it was Ancelotti who signed Ruiz during his stay at Napoli, where he spent four seasons at the Italian club, making over 150 appearances.
It will be interesting to see whether the Italian manager plans to reunite with one of his former players.
