In a recent report, journalist Graeme Bailey claimed that Manchester United are among the clubs hoping to sign Stade Rennais starlet Desire Doue this summer. It has been stated that the Red Devils could face competition in the form of Arsenal, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Napoli and Borussia Dortmund in the race to land the French attacker this summer.
The 18-year-old is having an impressive season at the French club after putting in a handful of promising displays for them in the final third. Doue has scored four goals and picked up five assists in 29 matches for Stade Rennais during this campaign in all competitions.
The French youngster has been a consistent performer in the opposition half as he is averaging 1.1 shots, 1.0 key passes and 2.0 dribbles per 90 minutes in Ligue 1. He has even been tidy when distributing the ball based on his pass success rate of 79.2% in the top tier of French football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at Stade Rennais will run out in the summer of 2026 which would make it tough for Man United to recruit him on a cut-price deal later this year.

Manchester United Are Among The Clubs Hoping To Sign Doue: Is He A Prospect For The Future?
Doue is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make some dangerous runs with the ball in and around the opponent’s penalty area. He can shoot the ball purely and with venom from long range and has got the eye to set up a few inviting chances for others around him on the offensive third of the field.
The French talent mainly functions as an attacking midfielder but can also play as a left-sided wide player or as a box-to-box midfielder if asked to do so. However, he is still quite raw and would need time to prove his worth in Premier League football if Man United manage to get him on board later this summer.
Doue would inject more quality and depth into the Mancunian club‘s attack. He might even help the Red Devils challenge across all competitions in the coming years. At 18, Doue is destined to have a promising career in European football and is no doubt a prospect to watch out for in the future. Thus, Man United should go all out to snap him up soon.
